Four students traveled to the prestigious Tournament of Champions held at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Students qualify for this tournament with exceptional results at national-level tournaments throughout the year.
Adele Fuzaylov was 2nd Place Overall in Dramatic Interpretation!
Suner Chopra was a semi-finalist in Congressional Debate!

The State Debate final, took place over the weekend of March 22-24. It was due to take place at Chelmsford High School until ice on Saturday morning sent the entire tournament online.
Shrewsbury took 6th place overall. Given the size of our debate squad, this was a highly impressive result.
This performance was led by debate captain, Dheekshitha Sriram, and her partner, our extemporaneous speaking captain, Vishnu Angiras, who reached Varsity Public Forum Semi-finals (top 4 in the State).
Vasudevan Lakshmanan and Aashi Gupta were Octofinalists in the Varsity Public Forum (top 16).
On Saturday April 6, the 50 members of the team who qualified for the State Speech & Congress Finals traveled to Catholic Memorial School in West Roxbury. Shrewssbury had 2 state champions:
Team president, Siri Ural, was State Champion in Extemporaneous speaking!
Nuha Salam was also State Champion in Poetry Reading!
Vasudevan Lakshmanan won a 2nd place award for Double Entry across diverse events: (Extemporaneous Speaking & Public Forum Debate).

Shrewsbury High School hosted 34 different schools from across Massachusetts at its annual Mardi Gras Speech Carnivale. Shrewsbury High School came in first place overall!

Special thanks go to the parents who not only judged all day for us, but those who volunteered their time or donations so that we could provide concessions and be gracious hosts to the estimated 750 people that were in attendance on Saturday.
It should also be noted that Oak Middle School came in 9th place overall (out of 34 schools), with one student finishing 2nd in her individual event of Children's Literature - Annie DeFalco, an 8th grader. Sreshta Dittakavi also was the Champion in Novice Oral Interpretation. A great day for Shrewsbury all around!
This Presidents' Day weekend, 24 members of the SHS Speech & Debate team traveled to Cambridge, MA to compete in the Harvard University National Speech and Debate tournament. With just under 5000 students traveling from 38 different states and 7 different countries, this is one of the most prestigious and largest tournaments in the country.
Team president, Siri Ural, placed 3rd overall in Extemporaneous Speaking out of the 240 students entered!
